Calle marchada (Demonstrated Streets) is a series about the biggest uprising in the history of Chile. On 10/18/2019, the streets of the country were filled with people demanding dignity, marching for it. The response of Sebastián Piñera’s government was absolute repression. Dozens of people lost their lives and more than 350, an eye. The only thing strong enough to stop the demonstrations was the coronavirus pandemic. Today, a year after the first stone was thrown, people are starting to come outside once more.
Through this work, the photographs stare to the ground. The scarred streets after the demonstration: vestiges of the People reclaiming territory they were deprived of for years.
Calle marchada also shows how dangerous it can be to look up when the Police aims to the face.
